- fastlane/metadata/android/en-US: title, short and full description, changelog for versionCode 12, and a 512px icon rendered from branding/generate.py's icon. F-Droid reads these straight from the repo. Screenshots still to add (images/phoneScreenshots/). - dependenciesInfo off: AGP otherwise puts a dependency block encrypted with a Google key into the APK signature, which F-Droid flags. - Attribution: OpenBible.info's cross references are CC BY 4.0, which requires credit - now in licenses/third-party, the README and Settings > About, alongside the public-domain texts and the model. - README: the exact hosts the app connects to and when, what data stays on the phone, and where voice input goes. - Version 0.7.1 (12). |

FAQ
Do i need to install the AI Model?
Of Course Not, you can choose to opt-out in the setup, if you want the AI Model later, you can go to the settings to download it again.
Why Can't I Use the AI Chat feature on my 32-bit ARM Phone?
Google build LiteRT-LM (the software being used to run the AI) only for 64bit. This is a known limitation with LiteRT. Don't try to use the AI Chat feature in the app for now. I am working on a patch for this. However even if I fix it. Expect Crashes. Memory usage for the model is about 0.8GB of Memory which may be tight for users with Low Memory Specs.
Is this app on any other stores?
Not yet. But i am planning to upload this app to F-Droid. However i will not be uploading this to the Google Play Store unfortunately.
Why is my Source-Made Debug APK Bigger than the PreBuilt ones?
Minimification is on for Signed Releases, which is what i use. assembleDebug skips the signing part but also skips minimification. which results in APK's roughly ~120MB.
What About KJV In the UK?
While KJV is Public Domain in the rest of the world, KJV is legally trademarked by the Crown and Cambridge University. the Version is available to download but UK Users are at their own discretion.
Why does the app ask for internet permission if it's "offline"?
Internet is only used when you tap a download button. These are the only places the app ever connects to:
| What | Where | When |
|---|---|---|
| KJV, WEB, ASV, YLT | ebible.org |
You download that translation |
| Vamvas Greek Bible | api.getbible.net |
You download that translation |
| AI model (Gemma 4 E2B) | huggingface.co (and its download CDN) |
You download the model, or a custom URL you set in Settings |
Requests carry no account, ID or device details (the app even replaces Android's default User-Agent, which names your phone model). Links in Settings and in AI answers open in your browser only when you tap them. If you ever see network activity outside of this, immediately report it to me on the email below.
Does the app collect any data?
No. There are no analytics, ads, crash reporters or accounts, and nothing is uploaded. Your highlights, notes, bookmarks, reading progress and AI chats stay in the app's private storage. If Android's own backup is turned on for your phone, it can back up the app's data to your backup account like any other app (the AI model is excluded).
Where does voice input go?
The mic button in Explain uses your phone's built-in speech recognition service (on most phones that is Google's). The app asks it to work offline, but whether it can depends on that service. The app never records or keeps audio itself. Phones without a speech service simply don't show the mic button.
